Quality Marks, such as Investors in People and Scottish Quality Management System, set levels of good practice for measuring and improving the quality of training provision and associated activities. Learning and development strategies are an important element in gaining and retaining these quality marks.

To operate a sustainable training programme, a business may want to become approved to offer certificated learning. To gain approval, management structures and quality assurance systems to support the delivery and certification processes must be in place.
