The course (standard) will cover:
- Current legislation
- Accident causation
- Cost of accidents
- Hazard identification
- Accident prevention
- Analysing accident trends
- Practical accident investigation – principles
- Recording and actioning findings
- Preventing recurrence
- Liaison with other investigators
Other issues of accident investigation can be covered if required, for example:
- Positive safety cultures
- Effective results communication
- Risk Assessment
- Report writing
Assessment
The course is highly participative and consists of tutor led sessions with focused discussions. Case studies are used to facilitate understanding of the concepts and group activities will help explore the issues in more detail.
This course is designed for anyone who is or may be involved in accident or near miss (incident) reporting and investigation at work, including facilities managers, operational managers, supervisors and health and safety professionals.
Accident Investigation courses can be tailored to meet specific requirements in terms of content and duration.
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements but some experience within a supervisory or management role would be desirable.
