NEBOSH National General Certificate - Day Release

Aim

This course will provide a sound general foundation in hazard identification and the management of safety based on the NEBOSH syllabus.  It will provide full preparation for entry to the NEBOSH Certificate examinations.

 

Objectives

On successful completion of the course, participants will have passed the examinations necessary for the NEBOSH Certificate award, and will have demonstrated ability to:

  •  identify typical hazards encountered in a full range of work environments
  • describe methods of controlling risks
  • communicate effectively on health and safety matters in the workplace
  • recognise the important of accident investigation and record keeping
  • describe the requirements of health, safety and welfare legislation
  • carry out competently and prepare a suitable written report on a workplace inspection

Assessment

The assessment consists of an examination and a practical health and safety assessment of a workplace situation.  The pass standard must be achieved in each of the two papers in the examination and in the practical assessment to be awarded the Certificate.

 

Entry Requirements

This course consists of lectures, discussions and tutorial sessions, supported by an extensive range of video materials and considerable amounts of homework.

The NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health is designed for personnel who have supervisory or managerial responsibilities which include health and safety or others who require a basic knowledge and understanding of occupational safety and health to operate more effectively in the workplace with respect to health and safety.
