Influencing Skills
Aim
This course will explore a range of influencing techniques in a variety of situations to give an understanding of them and their application.
Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- understand the principles of effective influencing
- appreciate the importance of communication in effective influencing
- select and effectively apply the influencing techniques most appropriate to a given situation
Course Content
The course (standard) will cover:
- removing the barriers
- transactional analysis and influencing
- applying the principles
- conflict resolution through negotiation
- increasing employee motivation
- team building as effective influencing
- persuasive decision making
- influencing by communication
This course is highly participative comprising a participant centred methodology throughout. Group work, case study analysis and role play simulations are central aspects of the approach. Discussion will explore issues raised throughout the course.
Assessment
This short course can be used as credit towards the ILM Certificate in First Line Management at Level 3.
It is worth 1 credit and a written assessment must be completed to gain this credit.
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements but some experience within a management role would be desirable.
