Aim

This course will provide knowledge and understanding of the process of selection and will build confidence and reduce anxiety when conducting selection interviewing.

Objectives

On successful completion of the course, participants will:

  •  have a greater understanding of the process of selection
  •  have knowledge of the legal requirements and legislation concerned
  •  have gained experience of interviewing techniques
  •  have an understanding of the range of techniques designed to enhance the selection of the right candidate for the right job

Course Content

The course will cover:

  • identification of issues associated with the interviewing process 
  •  analysis of types of interviews
  •  introduction to legal requirements and legislation concerning interviewing
  •  non-discriminatory practice and Equal Opportunities
  • identifying and developing key interviewing techniques including questioning techniques that ensure legal compliance
  •  interview simulations
  • action planning

Assessment

This course is participant centred.  As well as tutor input, group work and class discussion, interview simulation will take place.

This course is suitable for those who have a responsibility for monitoring, maintaining and improving staff performance to achieve business outcomes.
