Work-based learning is playing an increasingly important part in training and development in the workplace. Vocational qualifications are suitable for employees of different ages, experiences and skill levels.

Vocational qualifications cover a wide range of occupational areas and skills levels. They are based on standards agreed by employers and other training professionals to reflect key workplace activities and therefore specify what a competent practitioner should be able to do in any particular job role.

The Standards can provide a training framework relevant to all aspects of an organisation's activities and allow for efficient succession planning.
